Maintenance of drip irrigation systems

Drip irrigation improves water management in the field

All demonstration sites have been equipped with as solar powered drip irrigation system. It is for the first time this is used in the farming community in Kayar, notably in the community that farms in the sand dunes. The slopes in the field pose a challenge, as well as the presence of very fine sediment that is clogging the nuzzles and filters. In these circumstances, good maintenance of the filters and other irrigation materials is critical. To this end, Delphy provided a hands-on practical training for the field owners on how to maintain and if necessary replace critical items of the system. Based in the obstacles observed, a dedicated and easy to follow manual for maintenance will be developed for the owners of the demonstration fields.
