Harvest time

Higher yields due to improved cultivation techniques

Always a joy, for both farmers and trainers to see the fruit of hard work. Farmers in the area are very excited to see a nice harvest of courgette, a crop that was introduced as part of the rotation schedule. It is a crop not commonly grown in the area, and the harvest therefore quickly found its way to the markets in the neighbouring communities, where demand for fresh vegetables (next to main crops onions and potato) is always strong. It is encouraging for farmers to see that ‘new’ crops that are grown as part of rotation, can actually have real benefits in terms of quality, quantity and generating hard cash.
